Sidekick Pulled After Outage
Following a nationwide service outage that has led to possibly permanent data loss for many customers, T-Mobile has announced that it is temporarily stopping sales of its Sidekick device, partially in retail stores and entirely online.
T-Mobile has agreed to grant a free month of service to affected customers, and has also offered a $100 customer appreciation card to anyone who has experienced "a significant and permanent loss of personal content."
The outage was the result of a server failure at Danger, the Microsoft division that makes the device. The initial outage took place Oct. 1, and T-Mobile told customers over the weekend that they may have permanently lost their data.
