Following the release Friday of Apple's 3G-enabled iPad device, the company announced Monday that it has sold over 1 million total iPads since the product was unveiled one month ago. The iPad has also seen 12 million apps downloaded from the App store, and 1.5 million ebooks from the iBooks store.
"One million iPads in 28 days-that's less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone," CEO Steve Jobs said in a statement. "Demand continues to exceed supply and we're working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers."
The milestone was passed Friday, amid reports that the 3G-enabled iPad were brisk. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, as cited by the Wall Street Journal, estimated that the company moved 300,000 units of the 3G model in the first weekend. Munster's estimate included both pre-orders and online sales.
