For the Time Being, Microsoft's Xbox VR Headset On Hold
Microsoft has been generating a lot of excitement for their next Xbox project - whatever it may be - but conflicting reports have the industry wondering if the company has any interest in a VR headset.
The conflict comes from an October report that Microsft had abandoned its plans for VR entirely only to "come close" to an announcement that was ultimately shelved in lieu of waiting on better available technology. In fact, Engadget reports that sources close to Microsoft had been seeking partners for a screen that "was good, but not as good as Facebook's Oculus Rift or HTC's Vive."
And Xbox is seemingly primed for a VR headset as the category begins to mature, but their decision to hold off might pay off big time. Other companies such as Sony and Facebook tried to make waves E3 and although Playstation's venture has netted them 3 million units sold, it has otherwise been a huge struggle.
