Executives Plead Guilty to LCD Price Fixing
Sharp, Chunghwa and LG had already plead guilty to a price-fixing conspiracy, and agreed to pay fines. Now, individual executives from the companies have pled guilty as well, and will receive jail time.
Just days before the change in presidential administrations, the Justice Department announced that four executives had all agreed to the plea bargain, in which they will pay fines, serve prison sentences ranging from six to nine months, and assist the government's ongoing investigation.
The executives involved are Chunghwa's former CEO, Chieng-Hon Lin as well as two vice presidents of LCD sales, Hsueh-Lung Lee and Chih-Chun Liu. Also pleading guilty was Chang Suk Chung, LG's onetime Vice President of Monitor Sales. The first three men are Taiwanese (Lin also holds duel U.S. citizenship), while Chung is Korean.
