Blu-ray or HD DVD? For Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, the answer is simple. With the overwhelming Hollywood studio, consumer electronics and PC manufacturing support, Blu-ray is the clear choice. That’s why the company chose the format as the sole platform for its high definition DVDs, due out in the fourth quarter, according to Steven Feldstein, senior vice president of corporate and marketing communications for Fox Filmed Entertainment.
The company was in New York City this week, showing off some of its films in Blu-ray format. For a studio, Blu-ray presents several advantages over standard definition discs, and not just the fact that one can view movies in pure 1080p resolution.
Fox showed off films like “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen,” in which there’s a game people can play during several scenes. Moving the remote control moves the target and the player can shoot the bad guys in the scene. There’s a counter at the top of the screen keeping track.
