From Black Friday to Cyber Monday
Black Friday was only the beginning. Monday marks the third annual “Cyber Monday,” a term coined three years ago by the National Retail Federation’s Shop.org Web site to mark the first business day after Black Friday.
Cyber Monday was established in 2005 under the premise that many shoppers, returning to their office computers for the first time following the four-day Thanksgiving weekend, would make online purchases that they hadn’t made over the weekend. Some though, according to ABCNews.com, have questioned the significance of the “holiday,” pointing out that more online sales are made immediately prior to Christmas.
Many retailers, including the Apple Store, Circuit City, Dell and Sharp have begun offering specials specifically geared for Cyber Monday; to see some of them, visit www.cybermonday.com
