The Fry's Electronics executive who stands accused of embezzling millions of dollars from the retailer had already been both fired and charged with multiple crimes by the federal government. Now, he's been sued.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Fry's has filed suit against Ausaf Umar "Omar" Siddiqui, its former vice president of merchandising and operations, who was charged last week with embezzling $65 million through a complex kickback scheme. The suit is to recover a pair of promissory notes it gave him, totaling around $10 million, plus interest, as well as his California condominium and two luxury cars.
Fry's also issued a statement last week that it is "cooperating with the US Treasury Department in this investigation to expose any others involved in this illegal activity," and urges prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
