Fujifilm Unveils Combo 3D Still/720p HD 3D Movie Camera
Fujifilm has introduced what it says is the world’s first 3D digital camera that is capable of recording both 3D still images and high-definition 3D movies: the FinePix REAL 3D W3.
The North American event marking the introduction occurred Tuesday evening, August 17, in New York City at the American Museum of Natural History, where a plethora of bony three-dimensional subjects provided ample opportunity for the press to try out the camera’s functions.
Fujifilm North America division president Go Miyazaki said that distribution for this model would be wider than for its precursor, a 3D camera without HD movie recording capability, to coincide with the growing popularity of 3D TVs, which he said could reach the two-million-sales mark in the U.S. by the end of 2010. “We hope to leverage that” with the new camera, he said.
