What Does the Future of TV Tech Look Like?
The Annual TV Shootout at CE Week 2017 is heading into its 14th year this year. The event will put a handful of top-of-the-line displays through a series of performance tests over the course of two days. Judges will grade each product in a number of categories including performance in direct light, performance in a lighting-controlled environment, and performance with streaming media—among several other categories.
Ahead of this year’s TV Shootout, we had the opportunity to sit down with one of the expert calibrators behind the event, Kevin Miller, owner of ISFTV, a display product development consulting company. Miller, along with Joel Silver, president and founder of the Imaging Science Foundation, will be tasked with squeezing the most out of each TV, giving judges the best look at how each performs under certain levels of “stress.”
While we had him, we wanted to pick Miller’s brain on the TV market, where it’s heading, and see if we couldn’t get an inside scoop on this year’s TV Shootout. Here’s what he had to say.
