FutureDial has begun hosting a service that will allow independent retailers to offer customers the ability to transfer data from their old phones to their new ones. A $299 sign-up fee and service subscription provides retailers with a startup kit, including a software download and data cables.
According to FutureDial, 50 percent of wireless retail customers intending to upgrade their phone require these types of services. Says FutureDial Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product Management Shu Gan, “Many wireless retail stores have had limited or no capability to perform these services, so they were losing business because customers did not want to manually re-input all that content into the new phones.”
FutureDial’s back-end system automatically provides software upgrades to retailers’ PCs for new handset support. Retailers can offer content transfer via cable or Bluetooth.
