Garmin To Sponsor Tour de France Team
Garmin’s big Super Bowl commercial this year featuring Napoleon Bonaparte zooming around Paris in a sports car, and now the GPS maker is getting involved with another big race in France.
According to the Kansas City Star, Garmin has agreed to sponsor a team in the Tour de France, the world’s largest cycling race, beginning with the year’s event. The team, which will be called Team Garmin, was formerly known as Team Slipstream, and is owned by Slipstream Sports.
The sponsorship is expected to up the company’s presence in Europe, where it competes with Netherlands-based TomTom.
