Shapiro Decries Partisanship
Americans must learn to avoid toeing the party line, embrace healthy debate and get beyond the simplistic two-party wars. That's according to a piece published by CEA President/CEO Gary Shapiro Wednesday.
Writing in the Huffington Post, the day after Republican Scott Brown's upset victory in a Massachusetts special Senate election, Shapiro went on to rip the Obama Administration's approach to health care reform, which has been supported by most Democrats in Congress but opposed by nearly every Republican.
Shapiro also looked back at arguments who used to have with his father about the Vietnam War, tracing those to the arguments he has with his brothers today about domestic politics.
