Gateway CEO to Step Down
The PC giant Acer Inc. announced over the weekend that Ed Coleman will step down as CEO of Gateway, the American computer maker that Acer purchased earlier this year. The Wall Street Journal reported that Coleman’s position will be eliminated, with his responsibilities now assumed by Acer Pan America’s president, Rudi Schmidleithner.
Coleman will leave the company at the end of January.
The Taiwanese conglomerate Acer announced in August that it was acquiring Gateway for $710 million, with the combined company becoming the third-largest PC vendor in the world, behind only HP and Dell.
