GE Enters Digicam Business
Debuting next month at the Photo Marketing Association trade show: GE-branded digicams. GE announced Tuesday that it had reached an agreement with General Imaging Co. to design, manufacture and distribute an all new line of GE-branded cameras.
For GE, this isn’t just a branding opportunity, however. “Style will play an important part in our product development,” noted General Imaging Chief Designer Takeyoshi Kawano, who previously designed the Sony Walkman, Sony Vaio computer and Olympus Stylus camera series. “Consumers are demanding not just advanced features but stylish designs.”
Kawano says “advanced features” such as image stabilization, high ISO sensitivity and panoramic stitching will be standard on all models.
