GE Phone Technology is DECT-Deep
DeLor says a hot seller in the GE line, a stainless-steel-finish cordless kitchen phone, launched last year, will be available before CES in black to match another popular kitchen appliance finish.
On the “green” front, Thomson is partnering with Staples for a promotion running through Nov. 15 whereby anyone bringing a phone of any kind into Staples for trade-in will be entitled to $30 back in Staples Rewards, which the consumer receives after purchasing a new phone there.
Although the home phone market is down about 16 percent in 2008 over 2007, due to reduced incidence of purchase because of the increasing bundling of multiple handsets with phone systems, DeLor is optimistic that more and even better future features, such as improvements to digital answering systems and in the cordless headset category, will help stanch the decline. “The market is still huge – $1.6 billion – and phones will continue to grow in importance as the mini-hub of communications in the home.”
