Geek Squad Catches a Predator
A Best Buy Geek Squad employee is once again in the news for looking at a customer’s files- but this time, nobody seems to mind.
According to the CBS News affiliate in Los Angeles, after a customer brought his computer in for service at a Best Buy location in Burbank, Calif.,, a Geek Squad employee discovered child pornography on the computer’s hard drive. As a result, following an examination by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Computer Crimes Unit, the owner of the computer was arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography. More materials were discovered at the man’s residence.
The bust comes just days after the supervisor of another Geek Squad in the Los Angeles area was fired after employees were found to have peered at, and stolen, files from female customers.
