Getting Connected To Product Data
Is there really such a big demand for interactive, up-to-the-minute content? Fristoe argues that there is. "In terms of the process that resellers go through, the moment product information leaves the manufacturer and shows up in a salesperson's back pocket, it's dated. Some of the largest retailers have whole teams of people who do nothing but search for product information. And so far the reception from the resellers has been overwhelming. From our perspective, the task is massive."
Fristoe says that now 60,000 to 80,000 hours of online video is being delivered to customers every month. "What that means for us is that we can tell retailers that whenever a customer goes to their site, they're going to be spending more time there," he explains.
As for whether or not the program is finding a welcome reception with vendors, Fristoe says the attempt to get product information happens all the time. "And if you're a vendor that cares about anything you're doing, you're going to create something like this anyway. The problem is that it happens in fits and starts," he says.
