Gibson Taps Bob Weissburg As Global Executive VP
Gibson has hired Bob Weissburg, D&M's former president of sales and marketing for the Americas, as its global executive vice president. In the newly created position, Weissburg will be reporting directly to chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz and will work with all divisions to develop and execute growth strategies.
The move comes a few months after Gibson became a majority stockholder in Onkyo. Juszkiewicz recently told Dealerscope that the first product produced by the partnership could be a line of headphones. Gibson invested in Onkyo as a way to expand its name from the limited market of musical instruments to the larger world of CE.
In the interview with Dealerscope, Juszkiewicz and Munenori Otsuki, CEO and president of Onkyo, stressed the important role marketing will play in whatever new products the partnership yields. Hiring Weissburg, an industry veteran who has overseen a variety of initiatives at D&M, Boston Acoustics, McIntosh, D&M Professional product and Sony is clearly a key to that strategy.
