Google Completes Motorola Purchase
Google Tuesday announced that its acquisition of Motorola Mobility has been completed. The deal was first announced last year and marks Google's first-ever major foray into consumer electronics hardware.
The company also confirmed that Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha has stepped down, and will be replaced by longtime Google employee Dennis Woodside.
"Motorola is a great American tech company that has driven the mobile revolution, with a track record of over 80 years of innovation, including the creation of the first cell phone," Google cofounder and CEO Larry Page said in a blog post.
