Google Continues to Collect Information Despite Disabled Location Tracking
In a day an age permeated by hacking threats, security updates, and a general uneasinesses towards 1984-esque tactics being deployed by major consumer electronics companies, Google has historically been a champion of privacy.
That is to say, efforts such as 2-step verification and transparent options have kept data out of other peoples hands, but not nessicarily away from Google. But a recent investigation by the Associated Press is changing that narrative, revealing that Google is recording people's movements despite specific instructions not to.
And it wouldn't be fair to witch-hunt Google, companies like Facebook, Uber, and Apple have had various forms of privacy troubles, but it certainly doesn't excuse Google for tailgating in the fast lane.
