Government Names Microsoft Vet New CIO
The White House announced Thursday that Steven VanRoekel has been named the government's new chief information officer. VanRoekel is a former Microsoft executive who has worked in government as a managing director of the FCC since 2009.
VanRoekel will take over the position from Vivek Kundra, who was named the first-ever CIO of the United States when the Obama Administration came into office in 2009. Kundra is leaving to accept a fellowship at Harvard University.
The Consumer Electronics Association praised the appointment.
