Academy Award winning projector screen manufacturer Stewart Filmscreen announced the passing of its longtime president and CEO, Grant Stewart, this week. Stewart died the morning of Tuesday, October 27 after a long and private battle with cancer. He was 60 years old.
Stewart is survived by his wife Mary—who will retain ownership of the company—their two children, his father Pat, and the rest of the Stewart family. “Grant will be sorely missed by many in both his personal life and the AV industry,” Don Stewart, Stewart Filmscreen Chief Technology Officer and Grant’s cousin, said in a statement.
Grant, a third-generation leader of Stewart Filmscreen, was the grandson of Stewart Filmscreen Founder Roy Stewart. Under Grant’s leadership, the company developed groundbreaking products like the Director’s Choice line of screens, the award-winning LuminEsse “edgeless” rigid front projection system, and the Cima line. Stewart Filmscreen also launched a redesigned website under Grant’s tenure that is designed to make it easier for commercial and residential integrators to specify the right screen for their job.
