Growth Seen For Smaller Tablets
Driven by an expected second edition of the iPad Mini and several competitors new and old, the market for smaller tablets is expected to grow considerably in the second half of this year. That's according to DisplaySearch numbers released this week.
Tablets smaller than 9 inches are expected by DisplaySearch to account for 66 percent of overall tablet PC shipments this year, which reverses the 60 percent held 9-inch-and-over devices had up until 2012.
Apple is excepted to bring out a new iPad Mini, with Android competitors expected from such manufacturers as Acer, ASUS, Dell and Lenovo.
