Mailman Stole Netflix Discs
A former employee of the U.S. Postal Service plead guilty last month to stealing more than 3,000 DVD from Netflix envelopes in the mail. According to Home Media Magazine, the Massachusetts man committed the thefts over a 13-month period, and was caught on camera doing so, after Netflix noticed an unusual amount of missing DVDs. He agreed to return the DVDs and pay additional restitution. Another mail worker, in Houston, had carried out a nearly identical scheme in 2007.
Couple Uses 3-Year-Old in Walmart Theft
A couple in rural Pennsylvania stole a computer from a local Walmart location by using their three-year-old daughter as a prop. According to the Associated Press, the couple had their daughter lie on top of a stolen Dell computer in a shopping cart, which they pushed out the door of the store. They were caught performing the act on store surveillance video and were later arrested.
Thief Tried to Stab Guard With Needle
A man who attempted to steal items from a Walmart location in Maryland attempted to stab a security guard with a hypodermic needle. According to the The Capital newspaper, the man ran out of the store with the stolen items, and after guard took down his license plate number he was arrested at his home. He was charged with several crimes, including armed robbery, theft, second-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon.
