Hewlett Packard, in a move to accelerate its entry into the computer gaming product arena, said last night that it had acquired the gaming PC company Voodoo Computers from co-owners Rahul and Ravi Sood.
“HP has been looking to get into the gaming space for quite some time,” remarked Phil McKinney, chief technology officer. “What has been missing is the gaming DNA to understand how to go after the market,” he continued in a preamble before the acquisition was announced.
“The gaming space is extraordinarily important to us strategically,” added Todd Bradley, executive vice president for HP’s Personal Systems Group, explaining why the company had been engaged in a partner search in that arena -- and why Voodoo was singled out.
