Microsoft Unifies Xbox, Windows
Microsoft is taking the final steps towards unifying its Xbox 360 and Windows Vista platforms by introducing Games for Windows — Live today.
The service will debut May 8 with the release of the Windows Vista version of Halo 2. Players will be able to use Vista to connect to the Xbox Live community. But it won’t be until June, when the company releases Shadowrun on both platforms, that players will be able to take part in cross-platform matches using the Live service. Popular card game UNO is another game due for release this year that will allow for cross-platform play.
The Games for Windows — Live service will be available in every country Xbox Live is already available.
