Dealerscope caught up with Home Technology Specialists Nationwide (HTSN) executive director Hank Alexander at the Nationwide PrimeTime conference this week to learn about next steps that would perpetuate the positive dynamics fostered at the group’s inaugural Summit, held this past spring.
Alexander said there are plans to expand the attendees number at the 2019 Summit to around 75, as well as upping the number of vendors and perhaps lengthening the meeting’s duration so that we can “take it to another level with education.”
The May meeting included some MEGA Group members who got exposure to Nationwide programs that offered them benefits that they otherwise would not have been able to access. “The MEGA integration’s been great,” explained Alexander. “We’ve been able to help these guys get into the consumer electronics space, in terms of assorting and buying CE.”
While the focus at the first Summit was trained on product categories such as luxury audio, networking and lighting, Alexander said the next event would likely grow to encompass categories such as shading, lighting fixtures and recurring business models that would make sense for members. He added that a goal in line with the category choices is to grow membership among custom installer dealers by about 20 percent in 2019.
The overarching idea, he said, continues to be to create evangelists among the forward-thinkers who comprise HTSN membership, so they can take the group message to dealers who are unaffiliated with a group but who would be a perfect fit for this one.
Alexander said HTSN is scouting possible destinations for the 2019 Summit, which was a memorable experience in 2018 for all in Chicago – and which, he admitted, will be hard to top. But he said he is confident that he can top it, by reinforcing and leveraging the synergies and power of networking and member camaraderie.
“I’m all about wrapping the business in fun,” Alexander said.
