Hard Sell- Aaron Carmack
As more convergence products are introduced, is networking a retail category worth watching?
It's definitely becoming important. It should be obvious that those convergence products are gaining popularity. They're not hard to use. As a retailer, you would be wise to pay attention to them. Our attention at Progressive: We don't see the big boxes actually "doing" the networking. Instead—and I imagine even companies like Kenwood are similar with streaming audio and so forth—I'm used to dealing with products from companies like Request and Escient. Those convergence products are combining entertainment and networking.
Ironically, given the potential that networking may offer, is the technology actually much of a hard sell after all?
