Hard Sell Don Barber
What factor best sells projectors?
Number one is it's big. The reality is the majority of big screens we're selling to sports people. A bigger number is also going to play video games. That's one of the qualifying questions: What are you going to be doing; watching movies, watching sports? As soon as you say video games, you eliminate [CRT] three-guns. If they're playing tons of games in a 4:3 mode, you got some burn-in problems. In fact, it's right in our contracts: If you play video games on this, and there is burn-in, that's not our problem. You talk about the different technologies and the advantages of each. Our show rooms are side by side, so you can see the picture is slightly better with a three-gun, but as soon as I adjust the light, it affects the picture a lot more than if I go into the next room and adjust the light.
