Harman to Establish Connected Car Software Engineering Center in Chicago, Illinois
Harman International Industries, Inc., announced its plan to establish a software engineering center in the Chicago area to expand its global network of Infotainment engineering and development centers.
Harman provides automakers with infotainment systems that integrate navigation, multimedia, and connectivity solutions to address the increasing demand for in-vehicle information and entertainment. Its newest engineering center will focus on next-generation, connected car infotainment systems, and automative-grade cloud platforms. These will be based on open standards like Linux and Android, and they will offer customization through personal smart devices, such as smartphones and tablets, with the cloud.
In 2011, Harman was the first technology partner to the automative industry to adopt the Android Open Accessory Protocol into its infotainment designs.
