The HD DVD Promotion Group has literally rolled out a self-contained in-store promotional strategy, in the form of the HD DVD Mobile Experience (www.thelookandsoundofperfect.com). This showroom-on-wheels—18 wheels, to be exact—is outfitted with Toshiba’s new second-generation HD DVD models, along with HD DVD-enabled laptops and PCs and a gaming environment that will afford browsers a peek at the Xbox 360 external HD DVD drive. It also houses the kind of state-of-the-art video and sound gear designed to showcase HD DVD’s performance capabilities. Consumers who view the exhibit will have the chance to win HD DVD home theater systems, gift cards to home electronics retailers and HD DVD movie titles.
The trailer was unveiled at the Denver-held CEDIA Expo in September and was scheduled to visit 10 cities across the country through early December, including Dallas, Minneapolis, New York City, Richmond, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. —N.K.
