Skiff Joins E-Reader Derby
The suddenly crowded electronic-reader market will get another entrant next year, known as the Skiff. The new product, which will emphasis newspaper and magazine content as opposed to books, and is being put out by a company called Skiff, LLC, which is backed by Hearst Interactive Media.
The company, formerly known as FirstPaper, will both make dedicated e-readers and software for multimedia devices.
“Skiff’s goal is to connect publishers and marketers with consumers,” Gilbert Fuchsberg, president of Skiff, said as part of the announcement. “We will accomplish this by delivering engaging reading experiences that consumers will value and a business model that respects publishers’ needs.”
