Understanding the Resolution
"We have seen a tremendous amount of business across all resolutions," said Sony's Malcolm. Resolution, he said, is still pretty important to a consumer, although it's not the major deciding factor in a buying decision. A buying decision is influenced by the application, by how the consumer wants to use the camera. If a consumer only wants to view his or her digital images on the computer or only print in the 4 x 6 and 5 x 7 sizes, then the 1.5- to 2.1-megapixel camera is enough, Krawczyk offered.
