Here’s What You Need to Watch (and Catch Up) on the E3 Press Events
Starting today through the end of the day on Thursday, Dealerscope will be out in Los Angeles covering the Electronics Entertainment Expo, better known simply as E3. This video game convention, organized by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), is an annual hotbed of the latest software and hardware announcements in this $30 billion industry, and 2018 represents the first time in a handful of years that we are out here to rub shoulders with the professionals in this space.
While we’ll be doing our best to cover the latest announcements that retailers ought to care about, but what tends to garner the most attention this week are the press conferences held by the big three in the industry: Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. Microsoft already held its Xbox presser on Sunday afternoon, but there’s still time to catch the Sony event (Sunday night at 9pm Eastern/6pm Pacific) and Nintendo’s show (Monday at 12pm Eastern/9am Pacific). A live stream is provided by Gameslice and hosted on a YouTube channel live from E3. You can watch the events as they happen right here:
It’s not just about the big three, though.
Among the things that we’ll be on the lookout for are advancements in the VR and AR space that will surely be on display. In the run up to E3, we’ve seen plenty of press emails come through touting some odd looking concept products that extend these experiences beyond a smartphone and some sort of handheld controller. And then there’s the PC gaming side to this industry that will surely be on display throughout the week.
It’s tough going into a show like this as first timers, not really knowing what to expect. But at the same time, it give us the opportunity to approach a massive show like E3 with a fresh perspective. At the very least, we can anticipate this being a heck of a lot of fun. So be on the lookout for our coverage of E3 2018 throughout the week.
