Numerous media outlets noticed last week that Circuit City's Web site currently states that the defunct retailer's Web arm is "temporarily closed, although we anticipate the website will reopen in the coming weeks." It's uncertain who would run such a site, but an executive with one company that bid on the Web site says his company hasn't bought it.
Hilco Trading LLC, a firm that was one of several who handed Circuit City's liquidation earlier this year. And while the company bid on the Circuit City name and domain name, Hilco has not purchased the name and is uncertain of the status of the bidding process, the company's executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Rick Kaye, told Dealerscope last week.
"We were bidding for it," Kaye said, adding that Hilco is "not 100% certain the bidding is over."
