Holy Sheet! Jakks Pacific to Launch Rapid Fire TP Blaster
Aside from getting to write the single greatest headline ever, discovering the latest product in Jakks Pacific’s line of Toilet Paper Blasters has brought out the nine year old kid in my 30-year-old self. My birthday is just around the corner, so anyone who’s still looking for ideas on what to get me should just read on.
At last year’s Toy Fair in New York City, Jakks, the toy manufacturer behind a number of widely popular kids toys, unveiled their Skid Shot Toilet Paper Blaster. A NERF gun alternative, Skid Shot ditches those annoying foam pellets in favor of a toilet paper/tap water combo that could splatter soaked TP on your foes from a solid 30 feet away. What’s great, on one hand, is that Skid Shot transforms the idea of the spitball into a much more hygienic weapon with no actual spit required. A single roll of two-ply toilet paper—the recommended ammunition—provides in excess of 350 spitballs.
This Skid Shot, however, was just the tip of the toilet paper roll.
Hearing feedback from kid consumers, Jakks is coming back to the Toy Fair this year with a new and improved version of the TP blaster called the Sheet Storm (the story writes itself, really).
One of the biggest complaints about last year’s product was the slow and clunky reload mechanics, which required the user to prime two separate levers in order to get off a single shot. That’s less than ideal in the heat of a battle when every split-second counts. So, with that in mind, Jakks Pacific reworked the firing and reloading mechanics on the Sheet Storm to be a simple, sliding, pump-action lever. Now, firing a shot is as easy as pumping the lever and pulling the trigger. Additionally, the Sheet Storm TP blaster adds more distance, giving you a range of about 50 feet per soaked spitball shot.
Jakks will launch the Sheet Storm for $40—double the price of the Skid Shot—later this year.
