Hong Kong's Spring Electronics Fair Offers Multi-purpose IoT Devices
At first glance, the 2016 Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) might bear a resemblance to Las Vegas’ CES 2016. In fact, with drone cages, a section dedicated to the connected home and a heap of wearables on the show floor, déjà vu is understandable. But despite the trade shows’ similar electronics themes, April’s Hong Kong Electronics Fair had a unique character all its own.
This year’s exhibition, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) together with the concurrently held HKTDC International ITC Expo, drew nearly 93,000 buyers and 820 exhibitors from 145 countries and regions – a 1.3 percent increase in attendance over the 2015 Spring Fair. Attendees surveyed during the Fair named electronics/electrical accessories and A/V products to be the categories with the best growth potential in the sales/export market for 2016 (which includes the U.S. market), followed by mobile devices and home appliances.
