And that’s where it’s the retailer’s job to explain to consumers the potential hazards, Sedek said. “We just explain to customers that, hey, if you buy a cheaper-quality product, you risk it not being as reliable—it’s just educating the consumer.”
As for Electronic Express, Sedek said the hoverboards it carries (Amazing and Hype-X brands) use name brand batteries—LG and Samsung, he said—which have been tested and seal-approved.
“That’s what it really is, it’s the type of battery that the manufacturers are using, whether they’re tested and certified,” Sedek said. “We went after a couple of companies that we made sure they were using approved batteries that were tested, and that won’t have any issues.”
