High Def Inheritor
Temiz: This will be a great opportunity for us to really sell the customers the latest and greatest in television technologies and not have to do the down converting. For those who do not want to invest in a new TV, there will have to be a demonstrably better difference to purchase the new DVD to make it work and that is where the price points of HD DVD or Blu-ray could become an issue.
Anderson: Only the most demanding and up-to-date customers will see this as an issue. Our guess is that most of the early adopters of HD DVD formats will have TV’s with HDMI. As an aside, it is only required that the players have the ability to down-convert. The decision whether or not to require down-conversion on any given HD DVD or Blu-ray title is up to the studio. Our salespeople are already aware of the situation and will be able to explain it to customers.
DS: Will your company also be carrying Blu-ray when it comes out? Are you worried about customer confusion between the formats?
