Toshiba Goes on Tour
Hoping to win the hearts and minds of consumers who are generally unaware of high definition DVD formats, Toshiba embarked on a forty-city tour to promote its format, HD DVD, a competitor to the Blu-ray disc format being championed by Sony and others. The company kicked off the tour in the New York area at Electronics Expo in Paramus, New Jersey, and then set the stage in Manhattan at the regional retail chain, P.C. Richards.
Even within a the first few hours the store was open, John LaRegina, Senior Buyer at P.C. Richards, said that his sales people had already taken a few pre-orders for the players, which are scheduled to ship mid-March and be available at retail by the end of the month.
