Is Anyone Having Fun?
It may seem like a ridiculous question: “Are You Having Fun?” Margins are shrinking, competition is getting tougher and products and technology are almost identical from brand to brand. How can anyone have fun? Well if you’re not, I’ll guarantee you your salespeople are not and that is costing you sales, customers and most likely higher employee turnover than you would like.
Are you driving to the wrong parking lot?
For years I have been telling my co-workers and employees that if you are not having any fun you are driving to the wrong parking lot. I have always believed that fun in the workplace increases productivity, improves customer service and satisfaction, and increases sales. Think of your own preference: Do you want to do business with a grumpy salesperson or someone who is upbeat and shows that they care about your business? Your customers are no different. In addition to my own philosophy on fun, I recently read the book “Fun is Good” by Mike Veeck. I recommend it to everyone. Not everything will apply to your particular situation but it can make a difference to you, your employees and consequently your business. I will discuss only a few of the ideas, as there are too many to put in this article.
