HP Launches $300 Million Ad Campaign, New Products
Hewlett Packard on Tuesday unveiled a major new marketing initiative aimed at selling its new printers and web-based printing services- built around a $300 million advertising campaign starring pop star Gwen Stefani. The campaign, the Wall Street Journal reported, is meant to keep HP sales strong as imaging services migrate to the Web.
New products being pushed as part of the initiative include a new printer that allows users to print directly from a memory card to the printer without use of a PC, as well as a Web-based printing tool bar created in partnership with Yahoo!
HP’s initiative also includes a Web 2.0 campaign, in which customers are invited to visit HP’s Web site and create scrapbooks, using photos and designs created by Stefani herself, as well as by graphic designer Paula Scher and other noted creative professionals. These can be downloaded free of charge.
