Turns out, Samsung wasn’t the only company dealing with battery issues over the past few months. While the Korean company was sorting out its issues with the Galaxy Note7, HP found itself in the midst of a massive battery recall.
In June, HP announced that it was voluntarily recalling over 40,000 laptops due to a battery defect that was causing overheating issues and, yep, fire and burn hazards. The batteries were shipped in HP, Compaq, HP ProBook, HP Envy, Compaq Presario, and HP Pavilion laptops.
Well, news got much worse on Wednesday. HP expanded the recall to include an additional 101,000 laptops for the same reasons—overheating that could result in burn and fire hazards. The recall now covers computers sold between March 2013 and October 2016.
