HP Putting WebOS on Every PC Next Year
HP will put the webOS operating system on every PC that it ships beginning next year, the company's CEO said in an interview this week.
HP chief executive Leo Apotheker, who said in the same interview with Bloomberg News that the company has "lost its soul," revealed that the webOS software will be included in every one of its PCs beginning in 2012. The operating system won't replace Windows, but will run in addition to it, taking advantage of the apps developed for the webOS platform.
Palm developed webOS and it came under the HP banner when HP bought the company last year. The TouchPad tablet and a pair of smartphones featuring webOS were unveiled by HP last month.
