HP Still Leads in Notebook Share, as Market Reaches 24 Million
More than 24.1 million notebook computers were sold worldwide in the second quarter, with HP leading in market share with 19.5 percent, accordin got data from DisplaySearch, a research film associated with NPD Group. The strong performance, up from the previous quarter by a million, led DisplaySearch to revise its forecast for the year to 103 million.
According to the Quarterly Notebook PC Shipment and Forecast Report, the total jumped 4.4 percent over the previous quarter, and 40 percent from same time the previous year.
HP’s 19.5 percent share was good for the lead, followed by Dell (14.1 percent), Acer (12.5 percent), Toshiba (9.5 percent), Lenovo (8.5 percent), Fujitsu-Siemens (5.5 percent), Sony (4.6 percent) and Apple (4.7 percent).
