The price of the HP TouchPad tablet has been permanently dropped to $399.99 for the 16GB Wi-Fi edition, HP announced Wednesday.
The company had offered a "temporary" instant rebate from the original price of $499.99, but decided to make it permanent following customer response. The 32GB edition is $100 more.
"We were pleased with customer response and, as a result, have made the decision to implement a $100 price drop on the U.S. list price of the HP TouchPad, enabling both HP and our channel partners to be even more price competitive in the marketplace," Stephen DiFranco, senior vice president and general manager of the company's Personal Systems Group, said as part of the announcement.
