Huge Growth Expected in Mobile Phone GPS Sector
The market for mobile phones with GPS is expected to double between 2008 and 2012, with the segment reaching $100 billion in global revenues by the latter year. That’s according to a report released this week by ABI Research.
In addition, the actual number of devices sold is expected to more than double during that time. ABI, according to their announcement of their findings, attributes the expected gains to consolidation in the industry, the coming move towards devices more compatible with 3G/WCDMA wireless networks, and widespread consumer demand for GPS access.
