IBM: February and March a New Selling Season For CE
The February/March period is becoming a much more important selling season for consumer electronics and will continue to be so in the coming years, IBM's consumer forecast reported this week.
In 2010, sales of consumer electronics and appliances were reportedly 8.198 billion and 8.109 billion in February and March, up from $7.899 billion in January, with similar increases expected this year, next year and 2013.
"The first step is for retailers to understand what is motivating the customers who are buying in this time period," Michael Haydock, retail analytics leader for IBM Global Business Services, said as part of the announcement. "That understanding will help guide merchants as they make their advertising, staffing and inventory plans."
