Worldwide, Domestic PC Sales Slide
Sales of PCs slid in the first quarter both domestically and worldwide, according to reports released Thursday by research firms IDC and Gartner.
According to IDC's domestic numbers, the U.S. PC market fell more than 10 percent in the first quarter over last year. HP, Dell and Toshiba remained the top three brands, with Apple jumping Acer to take the fourth spot, thanks to 9.6 percent growth.
Worldwide sales of PCs, according to Gartner, dropped 1.1 percent year over year in the first quarter, the first decline in six quarters. HP, Acer, Dell and Lenovo remain the top four brands in market share.
