In PMP Survey, Content is King
Since the initial rise of portable media players (PMPs), the watching of video content has yet to take off in a major way. The research firm Parks Associates has asked users what could get them to do so, and the answer is “content, content, content.”
When asked the question, “what would make you watch more videos on a portable multimedia player,” 44 percent of responders replied “appealing video content,” while 43 percent answered an improved “video experience.” (Responders were allowed to choose more than one answer.) The answer “cost of video content” got 33 percent, while “personalization and connectivity features” fetched 19 percent. “Ease of use” was answered by 16 percent of respondents.
The numbers were pulled from a Parks survey called “Mobile Entertainment Platforms and Service II.”
